Many, if not most of us are  looking for jobs locally. In that case it makes more sense to look in the local media for classifieds.

To get an overall view of how the job boards are structured and how they work, I looked up job boards at a regional level, national and even international level and at the specialty level.

I could not register, because of some problem on their side. I liked the structure of this job board. It is very convivial and lets you enter all your qualifications and specializations. it is not exactly defined to be local to Sonoma, but it takes care of the Bay Area which is not so far and can be useful from someone wanting to commute or telecommute.  The only disadvantage is that you have to go through five steps before you are registered and allowed to browse the various jobs. They have many

General Job Board

Front Page   http://www.careermag.com

I enjoy their first page that contains a little article which is a weekly feature. If you want to know more about it, there is a link. There is large amount of information on the first page, lots on interesting topics that I realized I was not even aware of. I made a search with "internet" as criteria and no specifications for the location, it searched for 549 positions.
The information is updated everyday and the most recent  jobs is displayed at the top of the list. I followed one of the job link. It was very clearly presented, with the company's logo on the top and nice layout with all the specifications related to the  job. There is also the possibility to apply for the position online.
Career Magazine offers various services beyond job postings. There is a link to Employers, a Résumé Bank, Articles, and many more very interesting and useful services.
The site is very well organized and is simple to use, there is no need to get registered.
I feel that this site could be helpful to me if I was ready to relocate.

Regional Job Board

Press Democrat       http://www.pressdemo.com/jobs

In the past this site seemed to me a little confused. This time I went back to it with fresher eyes and an opened mind. The layout  of the fist page is very nice and clear, but it still does not give much of a choice for the areas of work. I looked up for any job title with the criteria of "internet".  The server came back with 16 job postings. Each of the postings had the name of the company and a paragraph about the job.
I did not like the way I had to scroll down the page to see all the postings. When a viewer is looking for a job he wants to be able to quickly  scan through the information to see if there is something for him. There is no need to get registered to see the information and the information is regularly updated. I think it is a good job board for our region, but needs to be more specific. It contains some other services as Relocation, Post a Résumé and links to other web sites.

A-Z Internet Jobs Web Site

This is a really good place to go. I like the simplicity of this site. The accent is enforced on the job search in a specialized area. I made a search on "web" and 61385 job postings were returned. The postings are described very basically, location, company and specifications. There is a link to detailed information for that job. When you follow  the link, it opens on a very clear and nicely laid-out page, with the logo of the company and all the information about the job. There is also a possibility to apply on-line. The information is updated everyday. This site really concentrates on the job search and does not really offer other services than how to make good searches by using the right keywords.
I am certain to use this site, it gives a global view on the actual trends in internet jobs.
