Rapid Growth in Web Jobs
Internet employment
becomes a powerful force in Bay Area economy by Lisa Stapleton
This article reflects the on going changes in the Web
related jobs. The actual webmaster does not exist anymore as it was interpreted
in the beginning. It gives a good idea of the recent trends in the area of
Web jobs.
“A lot of these companies were surprised that there were
already so many different Web specialties, and most said they planned to
expand their Web operations even more”, says Paula Silva, vice president
of the AEA. Silva says she expects that the number of Web jobs will grow
even more in the near future—which comes as no surprise. Web salaries
are often higher than those of competing industries, and companies are
busy planning Web expansion.
The article breaks Web jobs into five different
categories: design; marketing and sales; administration; engineering; and
Web content. In general, Web jobs in marketing and sales pay the best,
followed by engineering, which in turn is closely followed by design and
content.
Silicon Valley Salaries for Internet Jobs is a very
interesting table that shows the various Web related jobs in the Silicon
Valley with a median salary.

This article does not talk specifically about Web related
jobs, but I think it is good to get an overall view about the employment
situation on a general level.
The Best Jobs For the 21st Century is the new book written by the authors.
They identify 33 major trends which will affect the work force and the
work place. This article mentions the 13 trends which demonstrate that the
coming decade is going to be very important. There is a lack of competent
